Practice Music

Below are some Yahoo playlists that I have put together for you to listen to as you practice your Argentine Tango. These playlists are also good for getting to know the music of each of the major orchestras of Argentine Tango.

Juan D'Arienzo Practice Playlist
This collection of practice music is by Juan D'Arienzo. D'Arienzo was known as the "King of the Beat." His music is very rhythmic and has a strong steady beat for dancing. His music might not be as complex or as elegant as some, but what it might lack in some areas, it makes up for in energy and drive.

A Taste of Tango...Immersion Lab Saturday, Sep 14

Click here for Facebook Event Page

Join us if you have an interest in tango, if you are presently a beginner and want to review, or if you are awaiting the start of our Beginner Series. We thought to offer this to see the interest level, and perhaps get some new people interested.

For those who are brand new, wear comfortable clothing, shoes that stay on your feet and that you can pivot in ...no flip flops, clunky platforms, or sneakers that grip the floor. Leather or suede soles the best.

Please respond to the event with a GOING; not interested. Find me, Shelley, on Facebook, and PM me and say Attending Taste of Tango. RSVP by September 7th!!! This is for us, you, and the studio. We are requiring at least 10 people attending.

We will start from the very beginning, and, depending upon who is there, will take this as far as we can, time permitting. We will try our best to work with different levels, if you are already taking classes.

Lab : 2-4pm
Practice: until 4:30
Charge: $25

A Brief History of Argentine Tango by Clint Rauscher and Shelley Brooks

 Version 1.0 - May 2014

The concept of this performance is to show a progression of Argentine Tango from its early days up to today, demonstrating different rhythms, embraces and styles.

Performance Notes: This was our first time attempting this performance. I finished editing the music on Thursday and we performed it the very next night, at the Spoleto Tango weekend in Charleston, Sc. This performance was completely improvised, Shelley did not even know which songs I had decided on prior to the performance. Since this was our first time attempting this performance, we appreciate any constructive criticism that you might have for making it better. We want to fine tune this concept and perform it again in the near future.
