Ports of Call

Ocho Rios, Jamaica
Ocho Rios is a town in the parish of Saint Ann on the north coast of Jamaica. Just outside the city, travelers can visit Columbus Park, where Columbus supposedly first came on land, and see maritime artifacts and Spanish colonial buildings. Ocho Rios is also famous for its watersports such as: scuba, snorkeling, swimming with dolphins, and the unique horseback ride-and-swim. Also nearby, is Mystic mountain which features bobsleding and ziplining. Or if you just want to take it easy, you can enjoy the VIP Bamboo beach club.

Another popular attraction is Dunn's River Falls. This collection of waterfalls are about 180 feet high and 600 feet long. They are terraced like giant natural stairs that empty into beautiful small lagoons. The falls are bordered by lush, green vegetation that shades visitors from the sun.

Ocho Rios was also featured in two James Bon films, Dr. No and Live and Let Die.

Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands
Grand Cayman is the largest of the three Cayman Islands. The island is 22 miles long and 8 miles wide. There is much to do here including swimming with dolphins and stingrays.

In the West Bay district, is the island's largest land-based attraction, the Cayman Turtle Centre: Island Wildlife Encounter. This facility includes areas where you can view and swim with turtles in Turtle Lagoon, vist with the birds in the Caribbean Aviary, watch sharks at Predator Reef, or vist Butterfly Garden. You can also visit the past on Cayman Street, where you can walk down a gravel path laced with old traditional homes, sand gardens, thatch relics, and conch shells. Nature lovers might also enjoy Blue Hole Nature Trail, where you can exprience some of the regions natural flora and fauna including: The Mahogany Tree, The Silver Thatch Tree, and The Banana Orchid.

Cozumel, Mexico

Cozumel is an island and municipality in the Caribbean Sea off the eastern coast of Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula. The economy of Cozumel is based on tourism, with visitors able to benefit from the island's seaside resort towns, scuba diving, and snorkeling.

Just a short ferry ride away is the Ancient Mayan City of Tulum. Tulum was a former Maya trade site, located right on a cliff overlooking to the sea; admire the main temples "El Castillo," The Temple of the Descendent God, The Temple of the Water and the Temple of the Frescos. The Maya settled Cozumel in the early part of the 1st millennium AD.

Frequently Asked Questions (PLEASE read):

1. Do I need a passport?
Yes, you have to have a passport!

2. What if my significant other does not dance tango?
They are welcome to come, in fact, several couples do this each trip. Just contact me and I will discount their room fee accordingly.

3. What are pre-paid gratuities?
Above, under the room fees, you will see what the pre-paid gratuity is for each room type. You can tip your waiters and room attendants and other ship employees directly, OR you can use their pre-paid gratuity. Carnival takes this fee and divides it up between everyone that likely helped you on the ship based on who helped you the most.

4. Do I need travel insurance?
I do recommend it. Each year we have people that don't get the insurance and then have to cancel at the last minute and want refunds. Imagine if you have a death in the family or there is a hurricane, or plane delays. Click here for more travel insurance info.

5. When do I need to arrive in Miami?
We recommend that you arrive at least a day early to avoid travel delays and missing the departure time. We might can help you find a place to stay the night before, but can't promise that.

6. What are drink packages?
Food and regular drinks such as water, tea, and lemonade are free, but alcoholic beverages and sodas are extra. You can pay for them individually or with special drink packages.

7. How do I pay for things on the ship?
Most everything is provided for free on the ship, but you do have to pay for alcoholic drinks, soft drinks, specialty foods, bottled water, gambling, etc. Once you are on the ship, you will be given a sail and sign card which is tied to your credit card. They will initially charge you $100 and put it on the card for you to use. After the cruise, they will refund any unused money to your card.

8. Do I have to get off of the ship when we are in a port?
No, you never have to get off of the ship. Some people prefer to enjoy a mostly empty ship while it is docked at ports.

9. Can I bring alcohol on the ship?
You are allowed to bring 1 750ml bottle of wine or champagne on the ship with you. You can drink that bottle in your room or any public area of the ship, but if you want to use it at dinner, you will be charged a corkage fee.

Also, prior to departure, you can purchase bottles of wine on the Carnival website and those bottles will be waiting for you in your room when you arrive on the ship.

10. Can I bring homemade foods onboard?
No, any food brought on board must be pre-packaged and unopened.
