8pm to 9pm - Beginner's Series
Our Thursday Beginner’s series offer the most comprehensive introduction to the art of Tango. There are 3 main 6-weeks series focusing on core tango basics like Walking and Turning; Musicality and Rhythm; the nuances of Leading and Following. Highly qualified teaching staff and lots of returning advanced students offer their support and help in a friendly non-threatening environment. Our female teachers are the most recognized dancers in the community, so any follower gets the chance to study with the best.
Absolute Beginners can start at the beginning of ANY of the 6-week series, and anyone is welcome to attend this class as it's always helpful to review the basics.
You do not need a partner to take the Beginner classes. We switch partners during the class and make sure that everyone gets plenty of dance time.
We recommend that everyone wear closed-toe shoes that fit your feet comfortably and snugly, preferably with leather bottoms that allow you to pivot easily.
9pm to 10pm – Advanced Beginner and Intermediate (2 tracks of classes)
In the Advanced Beginner class, we build on the techniques learned in the Beginner's class while exploring topics such as close embrace, cross-foot system and improvisation. We also use this time to explore the different rhythms of tango including Vals and Milonga.
In the Intermediate class, we focus on advanced tango concepts like Sacadas, Boleos, Ganchos, Volcadas, Colgadas, Calisitas, Paradas, Traspie, etc.
In order to attend this class you should be able to comfortably and proficiently lead and/or follow:
You should also own professional dance shoes which allow proper pivoting and be able to interpret the main tango rhythms of Tango, Vals and Milonga.
If you think you have troubles with any of these topics, please attend the Advanced beginner track instead or talk to us about private lessons.
10pm - 10:30pm - Guided Practica
